Sweden

Mention Sweden and ABBA, Volvo and flat packed furniture comes to mind for most UK travellers. But there is so much more the country has to offer.  Sweden is vast, from farmlands in the south to high mountain ranges in the north. The three main cities and thousands of miles of coast line is in between the northernmost and southernmost points. Located on the east coast, the capital, Stockholm is one of the most beautiful capitals in Europe. Built on 14 islands so you will be close to water and green areas wherever you are in the city. Stockholm is perfect to explore by foot or why not join one of the sightseeing tours by boat or by bike?  In the centre you have the old town with its narrow cobbled streets and quaint charming little houses and only a stones throw away you have a mixture of modern stylish contemporary buildings mingling with grand buildings from the turn of the century. On the west coast you have Sweden‘s second city – Gothenburg. Perfect to combine with a stay somewhere along the coast enjoying the fantastic seafood and cuisine the region has to offer. Gothenburg is world famous in Sweden for its excellent cuisine and the city has a great selection of restaurants and bars to choose from. Malmö – the third city in Sweden is located on the south coast and is great to combine with a stay in Copenhagen, a 20 minute train journey away. Both cities are well chosen as a gateway to south Sweden with its many golf courses, fishing rivers and outstanding manor house and palace hotels.  The country has so much diversity to offer, not only in nature, but also in art, design and culture, in sports and exciting adventure activities from kayaking to skiing and sailing. From true wilderness safaris in Lapland and the north to thrilling Ice Rally Driving or to wildlife holidays. A common perception amongst UK travellers is that Sweden is an expensive country to travel to, not so any more. The krona has depreciated greatly in recent years so this reputation is now largely unfounded. We have put together a selection of holidays for the independent traveller wanting flexibility on duration, location and on what activities to choose. As well as a selection of escorted tours with experienced and knowledgeable guides who will be able to help enhance your travel experience.  Resort notes 24 Hour Average Celsius Temperatures:   Nov   Dec   Jan      Feb    Mar    Apr -8.2  -13.6  -14.1  -11.6   -8.6   – 2.9
